Our Practice in North Battleford

Dr. James M. Lawrence was raised in the Battlefords and graduated from the North Battleford Comprehensive High School in 1991. Growing up, he enjoyed working on the family farm near Glaslyn and spending recreational time at Turtle Lake. He played hockey and studied piano, completing his Royal Conservatory of Music Grade 10 Level. He completed a Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Saskatchewan and then completed his Doctor of Optometry degree at the University of Waterloo in 1998.

Dr. Lawrence founded River Valley Eye Care after acquiring the practice of his childhood optometrist, Dr. David McAfee, in 1999. He subsequently acquired the practice of Dr. Jim Holmes and moved to that location at 1471 – 100th Street in 2000, where there was an extensive expansion and renovation in 2010 to accommodate the growth of the business.

Dr. Lawrence and his wife, Koreen, have worked closely together to manage and operate River Valley Eye Care, and they enjoy spending time with their three children—Bailey, Noah, and Jacob. They spend a great deal of their free time at Turtle Lake and enjoy gardening, boating, snowmobiling, and adventuring.

Dr. Lawrence enjoys working with folks of all ages, and he is particularly invested in maintaining advanced technology and applying it to the care and wellness of his patients. He also has an interest in helping his patients with the treatment of dry eye and with eyewear and contact lens options that meet their individual needs.

Dr. Lawrence is dedicated to providing eye care to you—his valued neighbours—and he is grateful to the people of the Battlefords and surrounding communities for their ongoing support and trust. He looks forward to visiting with you soon.
